The heroic actions of local firefighter Garrett Williamson have been highlighted by the proud crew of the Henderson Fire Department.

While visiting Shreveport with his wife, the eagle-eyed Williamson spotted an elderly man lying face down on the carpeted floor, in clear medical distress.

He parted the crowd surrounding the man and checked to see if he breathing.

Hearing no breath sounds, our hometown hero leapt into action. He was able to get the man breathing again, in time the arrival of the Shreveport Fire Department. Williamson stuck around to help load him into an ambulance.

“We are very proud of Garrett and glad he is one of ours,” said representatives of the Henderson Fire Department on a Wednesday evening social media post. “Remember to always be aware, kind and willing to help, you never know when you will be needed.
