Tatum’s Bradley signs basketball letter with SwCC

TATUM — JaCorie Bradley, a three-time district most valuable player and a state champion in his final season with the Tatum Eagles locked up the next two years of his academic and athletic future on Monday.

Bradley signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at Southwestern Christian College during a ceremony in front of family, friends, coaches, classmates and teammates.

The senior standout averaged 21.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 5.1 assists this past season to help lead the Eagles to a 32-2 record and the Class 3A Division I state championship — the first in program history.

The Eagles won District 16-3A, and then defeated Mineola (77-48), Liberty-Eylau (69-53), Ponder (73-53), Jefferson (70-42) and Iowa Park (77-38) to earn a berth in the championship game.

In the title bout, Bradley scored 26 points to go along with seven rebounds, two assists and three steals in an 86-49 blowout of Columbus.

Bradley averaged 17 points, 7.4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 2.8 steals as a junior after scoring 16 points per game to go along with 6.4 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 2.5 steals as a sophomore.

The Eagles were 80-26 in three seasons with Bradley on the varsity squad.

Southwestern Christian, located in Terrell, is an NJCAA Region 5 Division I program that competes in the North Texas Junior College Athletic Conference along with McLennan, Weatherford, Temple, Grayson, Ranger, Collin County and Hill.

The Rams finished 11-17 overall and 6-9 in the NTJCAC this past season.
